Large notebook containing extensive manuscript notes on Barry family history, including copies of leases, deeds of mortgage and other documents; a list of documents in the Public Record Office, Dublin, relating to the Barry family; and extracts from the Windele Mss. in Queen’s College Library, Cork, relating to the Roche family. Also pedigrees and pedigree notes relating to the families of Roche, O’Cahill, Haly, Brander of Pitgaveny, Southwell of Callow and Castlemattress, Hamilton of Kealagh, and Spenser of Kilcolman Castle. Reverse pages contain notes on the family finances, including the sale of the Leamlara estate in 1903; particulars of advances from trust funds to H. S. Barry; and accounts of estimated income. Also extensive accounts recording names of tenants and the size and value of their holdings, mainly in county Leitrim, and plans of and calculations relating to holdings mainly in counties Clare, Tipperary and Limerick. The latter material is probably related to James T. Barry, Solicitor, and the sale of his clients’ holdings under the Land Acts. Fragile.
